Cream Cheese Cookies




  • 1 cup butter, softened

  • 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 1/2 cups flour





  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F Lightly grease cookie sheets.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.

  4. Stir in flour until well blended.

  5. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet (or use a cookie press). If desired, make an indentation in the center with your thumb or other object; fill with preserves, or press candy into center. This dough is very versatile, lots of possibilities.

  6. Bake for 15 minutes in preheated oven.

Apple banana bread

My kids love banana bread, and it's apple season, so here is a combination of the two. As usual courtesy of Recipezaar. I made a half recipe and it did not last the day. Banana Apple Bread  1 3/4 cups flour 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup sugar A pinch of cinnamon 2 eggs 2/3 cup vegetable oil 3 tablespoons milk 1/2 tsp vanilla 2 large bananas (mashed) 1/2 cup nuts (chopped) 1 large apple (peeled, cored, chopped) Directions Mix together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and sugar. Blend in eggs, oil, and milk and vanilla. Stir in banana, apple, and nuts. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until toothpick test comes out clean. Enjoy!
